So what is a stolen inheritance? A stolen inheritance is when a person is deceased and they direct assets or money or any type of value through their will to go to certain people, and other people take more than their fair share or maybe more than they were supposed to get anything. A stolen inheritance is a theft of assets from a legitimate heir to that money, a legitimate recipient, and transfer to somebody else.

What can you do about it? Well, the first thing you have to do about it is you have to discover it. If you suspect that somebody that you know, a relative or a colleague, has taken funds or assets from a deceased person that didn't belong to them, you first have to discover that. You can do an asset search. You can do asset tracing. You can get some ideas at the link below at activeintinel.com.

Once you discover it, then you have to take action because if you don't take action, the law can't help you fix that problem. It can't help you undo it. It's not going to happen by itself. The action is pretty simple. You have to file some documents with the court, whether it's with the probate court or civil court, to have that transfer undone or reversed or revoked. Um, it's what's called a fraudulent conveyance.

Now, remember, we're not attorneys, so we're not giving you legal advice, but it is something that we see quite a bit. So, if you suspect that somebody has stolen your inheritance or stolen somebody else's inheritance for that matter, you want to discover it through a proper asset search, proper investigation, then file it, and then have that activity reversed so that the people who thought they were getting away with stealing money don't get to keep the money from that person.

Remember, a person's will isn't just a name on a piece of paper. It's their last wishes. It's what they're expecting to have happen to their money after they die. And if you let somebody steal it, you're actually invalidating and disrespecting their last wishes, what they wanted to have happen.
