When all other forms of title recovery fail, a court-ordered title is always an option in every state. However, each county has its own process, so how do you get started?

if all else fails get a court ordered title.
so if you have a motor vehicle and you having title problems you're missing paperwork you're missing documents you have several options. some states you can do a bonded title or bill of sale title or a deceased owner title there's different processes you can use. however in some cases that process runs into a dead end. the DMV rejects it or you have to getting it through or getting it approved. if that happens in any state you always have the backup method of doing a court ordered title. what that entails is you actually are filing a court case in the county where you reside. and it doesn't go through the DMV it bypasses all of the D. M. V. or titling office bureaucracy you're going right to a judge. and if the judge signed an order telling the DMV to give you a title they have to listen. so if you're having trouble getting the DMV to listen to you or to do what you want you can bypass that by getting it a judge on your side or the court on your side to basically take up the case for you. now it sounds like a complicated thing and it may be more complicated than than some title methods. but if you're already running into a lot of bureaucracy with the DMV and getting the run around from a title office agent and by the DMV mean department of motor vehicles some states it's called the department of licensing or department of transportation secretary of state but if the state government agency who issues titles. if you're getting the run around from that title office step back go right to court get an authority to give you some horsepower behind you. once a judge signed an order requiring the title agency to give you a title then game over. you can walk into the DMV slap that order on the counter and they have to give you a title. the judge is not bound by any bureaucracy or paperwork or requirements of bill of sale or anything. if you tell them a good enough story the judge is going to sign an order giving you authority to be the owner of the vehicle. and once you carry that over to to that title office DMV they have to do it. now what is the process you have to file in an initial court case that's going to be the trickiest part because there's no form that you can just fill in the blanks and submitted to the court you have to start with a blank sheet of paper and type up what's called a complaint or petition to the court. the problem is the court can't help you put together that wording. what we recommend is get another court case filing from that jurisdiction from your county about something else it could be a small claims case of divorce case whatever just to see how the wording looks at how the format looks. then just change the words to match your scenario about a car by the vin number and submitted to the court. here's the other kind of secret trick that nobody knows if you submit something to the court and its wrong now they may be able to help you a little bit they might be able to tell you to change some words if you just go into the court empty handed with nothing they can't tell you where to start you're not allowed to it's giving legal advice without having a law license. so if you go to court at least with something in your hands not empty handed that you may have to adjust later sometimes the court clerk can give you a little minor assistance. again remember we're not attorneys we're not giving you legal advice but there are some very good details of suggestions on our website you can use to at least start the process of a court order title to get your vehicle titling problem solved so you don't have to deal with the bureaucracy of the DMV and get the run around from a title office agent.
