The Real Cost of Going Electric: Why Some Drivers Are Pumping the Brakes on EVs
Download MP3We've all been watching the ping pong game of electric vehicles are they becoming more advantageous less advantageous will gasoline engines uh remain will they survive or are ef's the way for the future here's another data point where it says evs are no longer economic alternative to internal combustion engines as supercharging rates go through the roof meaning that the cost of recharging these vehicles is going through the roof the cost of recharging these vehicles is really no less than gasoline even with gasoline at five bucks a gallon a battery charge cost less than filling up a tank but the maintenance is cheaper but then the world went crazy and now people started questioning the economics of owning an electric vehicle that was why people switched originally now they're saying that the cost is going to be higher.
Whether or not you believe or support the idea of electric vehicles there's a lot of forces and pressure behind transition from gasoline to electric vehicles we all know that there's government incentives there's legislation that's making it more difficult to own a gasoline engine there are manufacturer developments engineering of electric vehicles only there's some manufacturers that have given up on developing gasoline vehicles kind of what we call the mig's field strategy and mixed field was an airport in chicago and back in the 80s or maybe early 90s you know they want to get rid of this airport to do development and the forces that want to keep the airport going fought back for many many years and finally one night in the middle of the night two o'clock in the morning the chicago government went in with bulldozers and just scraped up the runway and destroyed the airport in a way that you couldn't rebuild it.
And that's similar to what's happening with gasoline vehicles they're destroying the marketplace so that even if gasoline vehicle demand exists you're not gonna be able to get any you're making laws and making it possible some states are making it impossible to build new gasoline fuel stations gas stations some states are making it illegal to have in a gasoline vehicle after a certain date so it's kind of like destruction of the industry so that you have no choice but it's not going to be voluntary right people are making were making the switch because it was more favorable cost of ownership that was the initial reason to get an electric vehicle now it's just because that's what you have to do there are no options there will be no options for having an electric vehicle.
Tell us what your thoughts are in the comments are electric vehicles a good thing a bad thing do you want one are they here to stay what do you think the reasons are that there's a push for electric vehicles what's behind it is it economics is it governmental is it market demand love to hear what you think but the cost incentive or the budget appeal for a consumer may not be there even with gas costing five or six bucks a gallon what some people say that's why they want to jack up their fuel prices so that more people look at evs because even with the prices that high you know this article came out the middle of may 2022 when this was coming out gas prices had jumped again most parts of the country are five bucks so that would make electric vehicles more appealing maybe they knew when they were starting to jack up the prices for gas that electric vehicles were not going to be as appealing that than they used to be.
What can you expect well in countries where charging rates are per minute a full battery charge was close to a price of a tank of gas so us has not gotten there yet they charge you by the kilowatt hour but you're paying more than half a dollar for a kilowatt hour and that can be similar to a deck of gas double what it was before kind of like gasoline has doubled charging has doubled as well.
