The Great Green Debate: Why Hybrids Might Actually Beat Pure EVs at Their Own Game
Download MP3So what is better electric vehicles or hybrid well with the push back against pure EVS that's happening many people are starting to look at hybrids you kind of have the best of both worlds right you have a gasoline engine a smaller gasoline engine that can run the car without electricity but it can also charge up the battery while you're driving but you also have a electric drive system like a pure EV that has a battery that has electric motors that can drive the vehicle sometimes up to 100 miles of range most uh hybrids or plug-in hybrids have you know 40 30 to 40 or 50 miles of what they call Ev range meaning that it's pure electric your gasoline engine will never turn on and never uses gas so if you're commuting a short distance you may find your gas engine never kicks on maybe occasionally to run your air conditioner or to do something uh to run in the accessory.
These are the best of both worlds especially if these start to have more range once you start to get more hybrids in the 100 mile range that's going to be a better Commuter vehicle plus even if you're using the gasoline engine it's regenerative it takes the rolling momentum of the vehicle and the braking and puts that energy back into the battery so a lot of them effectively get 50 60 sometimes 70 miles per gallon uh comparatively depending upon how we use it.
A pure plug-in electric vehicle with no gas engine will have a longer range because it has a bigger battery but at the same time you can't just top off gas to get you on your way when you run out and if your EV battery runs dead you're stopped in a hybrid even a plug-in hybrid if your EV battery runs dead you can just put some gas in it and drive and it'll charge up the battery at the same time.
A lot of people are thinking that hybrids or plug-in hybrids are starting now to be really The Sweet Spot for the next level of um economic U and econ ecologically friendly Vehicles environmentally friendly Vehicles they're selling like hot cakes people are buying them more than they are EVS what are your thoughts on hybrid versus EV or do you want to stick with just old school plan old gas.
