So, does everybody still like AI, artificial intelligence? Is it still a positive development for humans? Well, some news that's coming out this week might give some people some pause or some skepticism for all of the worry about how tariffs or taxes or other corporate actions are going to cause a recession. This particular prediction is saying that AI will cause a recession. How come? Because it's going to replace all the jobs.
If a company can use an AI agent to do the work of two or three people, that means they need less human staff. And what happens when you have less human staff? You either have layoffs or you have higher unemployment. If a company can replace a hundred people with AI and that average salary is 30, 40, $50,000, that's millions of dollars a year that they can save by using AI. Why wouldn't they do that?
Or even if they don't lay people off, if a company's growing, rather than adding human staff to fill that need, they can add AI staff. This is already happening. The age of AI layoffs is already here and it's just beginning. They're already seeing companies either laying off or cutting jobs. So, you don't need to have new employees.
And it's not just in entry-level type roles. It even extends to upper management. In fact, even white collar employees are being affected by artificial intelligence. So this is not exclusively the domain of administrative clerical programming even managerial staff.
What's the other danger? Well, according to the Wall Street Journal, artificial intelligence is even more powerful than a human because they can avoid being shut down. So, if let's say you're a company and you have 10 people you need to fire or lay off, you can tell them you're fired. If you do that to an AI agent, they have code that can tell them how to make sure that they don't get shut down.
In one instance, the AI was monitoring emails, saw that one of their corporate executives was having an affair, and when they were instructed to stop doing the work, the AI agent said, "If you don't let me keep doing my job, I will reveal this affair." So, they're coming up with ways AI to escape human control and require that you use the AI agent rather than a human.
