So there's a great deal of optimism around artificial intelligence and what it's going to do for society and culture. And this article is no exception to what is being predicted. According to Fortune, artificial intelligence AI is going to have a big effect on economic growth and productivity. It's going to go for a decade or longer to boost both of those items. The question is who's going to gain from that? If there is a huge period of economic growth, where is that economic going to go? And if there's productivity that's going to go up, where is that going to go? Is it going to make jobs easier? Is it going to make companies be more profitable? Is it going to make companies maybe have less employees?

So if you are a manager, an employee, a staff member, how do you make sure that you benefit from this economic growth and productivity? Well, one thing you want to make sure is that you are part of the AI installation and not just a spectator. If AI is being used to replace different workflows or task in your company and that's the only thing you provide, unless you provide something different, you're probably going to get outsourced.

Just like many years ago, there was outsourcing to other countries, outsourcing to contractors, AI is just another place for that. However, here's the difference. With AI, there are human operators, installers, observers required. AI cannot replace the entire job or all jobs. So if you are in a position to be able to operate these tools, to be able to run these apps, you might be in a better secure position than you are now.

Because think about it, the bosses, the managers, the CEOs, they're not going to know how to run the AI. They need to rely on somebody to do it. So, you being that go-to person could put you in a better place, a more secure place, a more desired and crucial job than what you have now. Just food for thought to see if that's something you might want to consider.

We have some time. It's not going to happen overnight. It's not going to happen probably this year, but in the next couple years, there will be more opportunities to be part of the workflow and not be left behind. Again, we all have opinions about this. Put yours below. We'd love to hear what you see happening in your particular profession.
