Here's a good reason to make sure you get good paperwork and get a good title for your vehicle Ah here's a story of a car that was stolen and discovered in the tow yard decades later this is a 1966 Mustang Almost 40 years ago the car was stolen In 1983 from the front of her house And then she received a letter saying her car was found at a tow yard His car had been flipped a bunch of times probably like a barn find and the owner really didn't want to go too much further with it At this point you can see the condition It's not that great The towing and storage fees are probably going to be more than what it's worth to get the car but this is a good example where this car had been sold over and over without a title And no buyer had ever taken the time to try to get a title If they had the same stolen car report would have come up as it did when it showed up at the tow yard So make sure you get good title paperwork for their vehicle If you've purchased a barn find or purchase some You know vehicle without a title which again we advise against doing because there could be risk involved But if you do end up with the vehicle make sure you get your title in your name as soon as possible You don't want to wait to find out after you've restored the vehicle That you're not going to be able to get a title If you look at the condition of this car and the article it may be not worth much in its current condition but if somebody bought this car even for cheap and spent tens of thousands of dollars restoring it and then found out they were not able to get a title they could be in rough shape rather than it eight or $900 loss of buying a barn find frame You know rusted out Hulk of a vehicle Now you're out tens of thousands of dollars for restoration So make sure you get good title paperwork and make sure if you do have a vehicle you inspect and do perform due diligence prior to purchasing or putting a lot of money into it
