There was a recent crackdown and arrest where authorities nabbed 4,000 scammers and retrieved $257 million of money that was stolen from unsuspecting victims. So yes, these scams do get caught sometimes. You have to be persistent, diligent, and make sure you're following through all of the steps, such as reporting to IC3.
