Did you know that you can download and extract hidden data from vehicle use every modern vehicle has a black box just like an airplane does in fact some Vehicles collect more information than airplanes do everything from the vehicle speed if the door has been opened the lights are on if the brakes are on acceleration that kind of thing and if you have the right technology and forensic tools you can plug into these uh black boxes these computers and extract out records we've done it many times to develop evidence for our clients.

For example if you have a suspicion that a person is cheating and you want to find out if they're driving somebody around in your car well you can detect if somebody was sitting in the passenger seat because every modern vehicle only activates the passenger airbag if there's weight on the seat it also can indicate if doors are open so in this case we found out that while the person said they were going to the gym to work out we found that the vehicle drove to a location stopped the passenger door opened closed then the driver's door opened closed somebody was in the passenger seat they drove to another location the driver's door opened closed and then the passenger door open closed.

So these are just some of the records you can get from a motor vehicle blackbox or telematics is what they call it uh many things like the fuel uh level if you can find out when somebody got gas you might be able to get a receipt from that gas station or video from that gas station if you know that they the gas was on a quarter tank and then it went full at a certain date and time and then the car was home you can extrapolate where that gas station might have been or used GPS and then find out what credit card was used or that might be an asset search or what the GPS location was that might be a informational search.

The amount of records that are available from vehicle telematics is is unlimited sometimes it'll tell you what radio station was tuned in how high the volume was sometimes it'll tell you if the windows switches were pushed to go up or down or air conditioning was on many many pieces of information if you put all that together with other records it'll even when it connects to your mobile device use Bluetooth to get information from your mobile device it could be your contacts on your phone it could be phone calls that were made text messages that were made and that could all be used in any civil case family law case and even asset cases.
