Books and Guitars: The Secret Power Behind Video Backgrounds
Download MP3So if you're like me, you watch lots of YouTube videos about different subjects. One of the things that is interesting—and I'm sure you've noticed this, but we'd like to hear your comments on it—is that many people who do YouTube videos have one of two things in the background: either books or guitars, or both. Sometimes you'll see people that have books and guitars behind them. Obviously, you see in our background here, there are some tools. Sometimes you'll see computer screens, a green screen, or desks. So, it's not that there's anything wrong with it.
What are your thoughts when you see guitars or books in the background? Is it a positive? Is it a negative? What do you think is the common element? Why does a high percentage of videos have either books or guitars in the background? What's going on here? With the books, is it somebody really wanting to convey that they've read these books and this is their mindset? Maybe it gives you an insight into their mind. With the guitars, is it pride in their ability to have a musical skill? Or is it just vanity? Or does it just happen to be what the background is?
Most of them seem a little staged to me—not that we're not guilty of staging backgrounds because we have tools and computers and other things. But just out of curiosity and for entertainment purposes, put in the comments below: what are your thoughts on books and guitars in the background of videos? Do you like it? Do you not like it? Do you think it's pretentious or ridiculous? Or do you think it's legitimate?
What is your guess or your opinion on the reasons behind having books and guitars in the background of so many YouTube videos out there? The vast majority, if you just randomly pick videos that are not corporate videos, 50-60% have either books or guitars in their background. Tell us what you think!
