Like any mechanical device an electric vehicle has certain things that wear and degrade over time could be the brakes could be the tires uh could even be things that are mechanical um inside the vehicle but one of the most expensive components of an electric vehicle or hybrid vehicle is the battery that storage battery in the vehicle is what gets you from a to b and stores up the energy and as the used car market starts to have more and more electric vehicles used evs in its fleet the measurement of that battery of health is going to be more important to the value.

And this article from green car talks about how battery health reports could rescue an ailing used ev market and that's part of the problem used evs are not as desirable as in combustion internal combustion vehicles because the ev buyer normally wants a new vehicle because they want the tax credit also there's still a question whether or not that used ev has a good battery pure plug-in evs have not been around that long to have too many of them in the used car market.

But as the fleet ages evaluating and measuring the battery health is going to be very important to determining the value book value or even the appraisal value of a used ev having two or three bars showing you what a battery's capacity is isn't going to be good enough and that's why a very robust measurement of that battery health is going to be extremely important to support that electric vehicle used car market in the future.
